Joseph Colin
Winemaker Profile | Burgundy, France
Joseph Colin, son of renowned winemaker Marc Colin and younger brother of Pierre-Yves Colin, comes from a distinguished winemaking family in Burgundy. He began working at the family estate, Domaine Marc Colin, in 1993. After his brother Pierre-Yves left in 2003, Joseph, together with his younger siblings, took over the management of the family business. In 2017, he decided to forge his own path and founded Domaine Joseph Colin.
The estate cultivates approximately 6.5 hectares of vineyards, primarily in the villages of Saint-Aubin and Chassagne-Montrachet. Joseph Colin produces around 21 different cuvées, including white wines from Chardonnay and Aligoté as well as red wines from Pinot Noir. Joseph Colin's philosophy is based on minimal intervention in both the vineyard and the cellar. He employs biodynamic farming methods, harvests ripe grapes with fresh acidity, and processes them as whole clusters without added sulfur. His wines are bottled without fining or filtration to preserve the authenticity of the terroir. Through his extensive experience, keen intuition, and pioneering spirit, Joseph Colin has quickly established himself as one of Burgundy's rising winemakers.
