Champagne Jacquesson
Winemaker Profile | Champagne, France
Champagne Jacquesson is one of the oldest yet most innovative houses in the Champagne region. Founded in 1798 by Memmie Jacquesson, the house boasts a rich history marked by numerous accolades and pioneering achievements. Among its early innovations was the development of the first cork closure for champagne bottles. In the 1980s, brothers Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet took over the management, bringing a fresh perspective to the storied house. With their uncompromising commitment to quality and relentless pursuit of excellence, they elevated Jacquesson to one of the most respected names in Champagne.
The estate spans some of the finest sites in Champagne, including Grand Cru villages such as Aÿ, Avize, and Dizy. These terroirs, with their chalky soils and unique microclimates, form the foundation for Jacquesson's precise and multi-layered wines. The house is particularly renowned for its "700 Series," a succession of numbered cuvées that reflect the character of each vintage without adhering to the strict rules of a Millésime. In addition to these cuvées, the single-vineyard wines from sites such as "Corne Bautray" and "Vauzelle Terme" are true masterpieces, celebrated for their depth and elegance.

The philosophy of Champagne Jacquesson is defined by authenticity and sustainability. Rather than focusing on quantity, the Chiquet brothers emphasize limited production, ensuring that every bottle reflects the signature of the house. Viticulture follows biodynamic principles, and in the cellar, the wines are crafted without fining or filtration to preserve their natural expressiveness. For Jacquesson, Champagne is more than just a beverage—it is a work of art that captures the essence of its origin. With their boldness to step away from traditional Champagne conventions, they create wines that challenge the palate and touch the soul—wines that tell stories and leave lasting impressions.
