Viticulture: Biodynamic farming. Sangiovese from four estate vineyards, planted in 1998. Hand harvested and vinified by parcel. 

Winemaking: Native-yeast fermentation in small wooden vessels which the bottling is named after. Aged for 47 months in wood, followed by at least 42 months in bottle.


Stella di Campalto, established in Tuscany in 1910 and revived in 1992, is a pioneer in biodynamic wine production. Its estate, Podere San Giuseppe, is known for organic practices since 1996 and biodynamic since 2005. The winery specializes in Brunello di Montalcino, characterized by elegance and aromatic delicacy, and releases wines later for optimal development​.

The Stella di Campalto winery, officially known as Podere San Giuseppe, was originally founded by Stella's grandfather. Since the 1940s, however, the property had been abandoned, consisting of 15 hectares of fallow land and buildings in need of renovation.
